We booked a luxe room for an overnight stay. As we pulled up, the the fire alarm was ringing... turns out the water main burst. The staff were calm, and handled the situation perfectly. They finally got us checked in to a jr. suite. The room looked like it had been recently renovated, and it was spotless. King bed, fireplace, and a bloody great spa tub, beautiful view of the frozen lake. The only thing missing would be a small fridge, but I'm nitpicking.

The dining room was nicer than in the photos on their website. The maitre d' was brilliant and had a great sense of humour. We'd have had him join our table if he hadn't had work to do. The wait staff were efficient, and took very good care of us. The food was beautifully presented, and was almost as delicious as it looked. We had a very enjoyable meal.

Overall, I'm happy with my stay at this establishment. However, I wasn't impressed by the comfort of the beds. For an hotel of this reputation, I barely slept better than at my local motel. The mattress wasn't very supportive, it felt weak. Same for the pillows. There were 5 of them on the bed, and none provided proper neck support. I actually woke up with a sore neck the next morning. The site is beautiful, there is plenty of activities to do, the food is great and the staff is welcoming. But as a hotel, they should absolutely be nailing the sleep experience. The food is also rather overpriced for what you get on the plate.
